WHIP currently has installers for Mac OS X (1.4 and higher), Windows (XP and Vista) and Linux Gnome and KDE desktops. WHIP also requires Java installed to run.
The WHIP Launcher for Mac comes as a tarball. Unpack it and then run the installer. This download is an upgrade to version 0.2 which supports feed documents as metadata. Please upgrade if you downloaded the Mac installer before 13 August 2008. Download here
The WHIP Launcher for Windows comes as an exe file. Download it and click on it to install. Download here
The WHIP launcher for Linux supports Gnome 2 and KDE 3.5 and 4 desktop managers. Download here
The whip-all<version>.jar contains the Core, Native, and App modules, as well as the WSPeer Streamable and Atom libraries. Using this jar will give you all the functionality required by a desktop application. There are no external dependencies, apart from a fully functioning Java 1.5 runtime.
The jar is also executable. When it is executed, it runs the WHIP configuration interface.
